Where LadyFox gets a bit overexcited....

So I have been a little lost since my re-emergence from The Seven Year Cave. I have been slutting my way around slash fandoms not entirely focused any one pairing, just reading whatever takes my fancy (and continuing to be hella impressed by the number of very fine writers doing fanfic. I mean, wow. Why aren't these people writing professionally?)

So in my fandom promiscuity I stumble into bandom because it looks like it might be comfy. I think I will always be obsessed with musician slash in one way or another. But I immediately feel lost because half the bands I haven't heard of and the other half I know by name but not by tune. I finally see something familiar in the form of My Chemical Romance, because I hey wow, here is a band I listen to and actually own CDs of, so I start reading the fic... and then I see some of the videos....

I was going to cut this for FANNISH SQUEE but dammit I am not going to because I AM NOT ASHAMED! I SQUEE PROUDLY.

and OMG heaven with

unlimited amounts of High School AU (yum my favourite, Wagger & The Fairy anyone?)
which of course was inspired by the music video where they are students at a preppy school complete with uniforms and TIES & bonus boykiss on camera
not to mention HELLO boys in makeup! and tatts! and crazy hair!
and of course frontman Gerard is a total poser who keeps changing the length/colour of his hair and pouring his heart out everywhere (sound familiar?)

and then

madame_d sent me over to

crack_van for which I will be eternally grateful because I found the MCR overview which led to the Gerard/Frank Ship Manifesto which is basically four pages of SQUEEEERIFFIC boytouching, hand holding, hugging, cuddling, stroking, posing, lap sitting, beaming, groping, licking and MAKING OUT ON STAGE CONSTANTLY. And there is photo and video of EVERYTHING.

It's like some kind of slash goldmine.

So now I have MCR basically on rotation on my ipod, half a fic written and giant heart shapes in my pupils because crikey I've never seen two boys so in luurve. I haven't gone this rabid fangirl since Affirmation came out.

But my fucking word it is good to be fannishly excited/obsessively fixated on something again! Wahey!

I've also stayed out of bandom b/c I don't know the bands (and I've been confused about why it only seems to encompass a limited group of bands), but if you are writing in it, then I'll have to read it.

eta: Though I was interested to note that the ship manifesto was written by a wonderful writer in the American Idol fandom. Now I know where she honed the skills. :)

What is with me obsessing over frontmen anyway? I'm all interested in Ryan Shuck now that he is fronting Julien-K, but I never really felt the urge to write about him when he was just another band member in Orgy. I guess I have a type *shrugs*

I love how incestuous the fandoms are. There is reference to writings by

futureperfect so she must have been in bandom prior to her war fixation kicking in.

LOL I would absolutely go with MCR if I were to write bandom again. My fingers itch BAD every time my friend

momebie posts something about Frank and Gerard, when she wrote her MCR Zombies fic, etc.

They are pretty darn fun! YAY for you!

(and see? Just seeing your excitement makes my fingers itch again to write bandom. Kinda funny how we wrote bandom before bandom was bandom, huh).

I love getting excited about stuff and I find other people's excitement very contagious. Whatever works - I'm just happy if everyone's happy yaknow?

Go on write some bandom. You know you want to. Yay for musician!slash and backstage gropings and interpreting song lyrics. Love it.

Ahhhh hahaaa. Well I've got, what, 21 days on you then? I totally use the date on this post to mark the beginning of my bandom fixation. Bexless and her bloody manifesto. I LOVE those four pages so much.

I am still not totally at ease with the whole LJ thing though. But I think I'm learning.

Anyway nice to know I'm not the only one in this boat. You got any gum?

Sadly I know exactly the day I gave in and learned about bandom. October 17. LOL. One of my friends is a huge panic fan and kept flailing, so I finally asked. She linked me to a bunch of manifestos, but I got overwhelmed and tried the fic first.

After being highly confused by a fic where MCR were all kids, I finally read the manifestos, discovered how much frank and Gerard love each other ( and us!!! ) and can never go back, hee.

It's kinda fun finding all the videos and flailing, even if the stuff is 2 years old. Glad to have another new person along!!

It makes me ache to think I came to bandom too late for Summer Of Like, but dude that is just a gift that keeps on giving. There are still new fics about that being written today.

Yay let's be new together!

I agree with the sadness. Missing the 07 shenannigans makes me sad, but at least video exist!!

Yeah new bandom fans!
