How am I going to sum up all the ways you sucked me into 3 days of reading, of laughing, of tearing up (in public)? Hmm. Okay. The day I finished, I went on a first "date" (term negotiable), with someone who knew of fanfic, so good start, right? As we got a tad tipsy, I felt compelled to tell her what I had just read. It went like this:
Me: I just finished this fantastic fic. It was bandom and... Her: What's bandom? Me: It's like, fandom, but it's what the bandom people call their fandom thing. Um. It's like, only certain bands. My Chemical Romance and, okay, I don't know what the other ones are, but um, there's a list somewhere. I saw it once. Anyway, the person who wrote it, she did an AU, that's alternate reality, and they're making movies, but it's like, behind the scenes, and it's so good because that's like, what she does, and omg the details! I love this girl's writing so much, like I don't read bandom except for her, she's so so good....
After all that, she wanted to go out again! LOL And she said it sounded good! LOL Clearly I owe you for a second date.
And back to the story. I didn't expect this, but Patrick and Pete became my favorite couple. When Brian and Gerard got together and had trouble, I was like :(, but when P&P did, I was like D:. I was really pulling for them, and I have to say that in the red carpet scene when Patrick holds the card in his hand, right before he turns it over, I was so on edge. When he said yes, I got a little teary. Of course, I was on the subway. I always get emotional when I read on the subway. I don't know why. Someone did an article speculating about why people cry more on planes, but I don't think it applies to subways. I was so happy at that moment. Patrick and Pete, they worked so hard for it and for them it really didn't look like it could be possible. God bless Pete and his don't give upedness! And he rescued Patrick from Tom! He's a tiny shiny knight!
I loved the peripheral romance of Bob and Ryan, too. I have no idea who Ryan is, but I got the feeling he and Bob are not in the same band because they weren't in the same departments, and there was a crossing of waters to get them together. The fact that they worked I think was a great example to the other characters and let them see what could be possible. These two guys went about their lives as usual, but they opened themselves to let each other in, and that was something the others couldn't do for one reason or another. They had to see it was a necessity in order for a relationship to work. Meanwhile, Bob and Ryan go on in the background, and we just get glimpses of it and a brief scene of Bob mentioning Ryan is moving in, to show that a r'ship is possible in that high pressure, narcissistic, backstabbing world. I thought it was a beautifully poignant way to show it.
