Patrick Stump hates scalpers. And so do I.

So Patrick Stump tickets went on sale this morning. And myself, [livejournal.com profile] dancinbutterfly and [livejournal.com profile] jenepel were ON it. We were a well oiled machine. By 8:45am we had Ticketmaster and Seetickets windows open and we were fucking READY. We had chat windows open in gchat, with our battle plans and we were waiting for 9:00am to come around so we could purchase tickets for the London show for ourselves and [livejournal.com profile] xclusiveantonym, [livejournal.com profile] kopperblaze and [livejournal.com profile] bebunny

Three of us, online at sale time, buying for six of us. That is totally reasonable to expect some degree of success, right?

Want to know how many tickets we managed to get?

One.

One sad little ticket, and I only got that one because I'd just started randomly searching for single tickets because it all just WASN'T WORKING.

[livejournal.com profile] jenepel got ALL THE WAY TO THE CHECKOUT before being told "We're really sorry, but unfortunately it looks like we ran out of stock while you were entering your payment details"

ARE THEY EVEN ALLOWED TO DO THAT?

You guys, I have done so many Security Check captcha's I'm going to TURN INTO a captcha. (Also, WHY THE FUCK do they not use real words? And why are they SO hard to read? /endwhinge)

So, I did what all grownups do. I complained to Patrick on twitter. Because I honestly thought it was sold out because he was playing a rather small venue and he has lots of enthusiastic fans who love him. Wow, am I naive.

And then I got a direct message notification from the man himself:

And then he messaged me AGAIN.

So there you go. My darling Hardwire Harlots, I'm sorry we don't have tickets to see Patrick, but if it makes you feel any better he's aware of the situation and very unhappy about it.

I'll leave the final word to him.

EDITED TO ADD: BUT THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY!

I'd just posted this entry when THIS HAPPPENED:

PATRICK STUMP ADDED A SECOND SHOW. A SECOND SHOW YOU GUYS.

AND WE GOT TICKETS TO IT. I clicked the link and GOT THROUGH, and typed my details with my heart beating OUT OF MY CHEST and I got the confirmation and WE ARE GOING TO SEE PATRICK STUMP, YOU GUYS. Because he's amazing and loves his fans and ADDED A SECOND SHOW. What godawful time is it where he is anyway? How many people did have to wake up to make that happen? HOW AWESOME IS HE?

Way to extend the middle finger to the scalpers Patrick. We love you. See you in May!

fuck scalpers, seriously, that upsets me so much and i wish, i really wish, someone would start doing something against it. it can't be that hard to make a difference on ebay between "this person sells ten tickets for twice the face value because he's a fucking scalper" and "this person sells one ticket for face value because her friend can't come anymore". so upset!

however HOWEVER i am so so SO SO SHAPPY THAT YOU GOT TICKETS AND THAT YOU GET TO SEE HIM!!!

I'm really keen for them to introduce the law where you can't re-sell over 110% face value. I just want all those fuckers to have to go out and find real jobs. Every time I go to a show in London they are EVERYWHERE with a stack of tickets inches high, and I want to punch them in the face.

YAY PATRICK! YAY EXTRA SHOW! YAY TICKETS!

basically, when I have to sell a ticket cause a friend of mine can't make it anymore, I don't *want* to make money with it, anyway, cause I want people (fans!) to be able to go to the show and it shouldn't be a matter of how money you're willing to spend and the friends I have talked to so far feel the same way about it.

I definitely think it should not be hard to introduce a law for that, not even with ebay.

Yes, whenever I buy tickets for shows in the UK, I am online with my fingers ready half an hour before they go on sale and sometimes I still fail. And then, when you go to the show, the way from the tube station to the venue is plastered with them, all "buy OR sell tickets?" and it's, like, fuck? of course I'm going to sell my spare one to you so you can sell it for twice the price. fuckers! they make me so angry, seriously.

Also, more on the topic of being upset than on the topic of tickets, how much do I hate those people that sell fake merch outside the venue? I was at Brixton recently and after the gig when EVERYONE wanted to leave, they stood on the steps up to the venue and blocked the exit and I tried to shove my way through one and he literally elbowed me in the face. fuck people, i hate people.

SO GLAD YOU GOT TICKETS! THIS IS SO EXICTING! PATRICK <3
