Not dead... yet!

HI HI HI.

Look I'm not dead! I am just... IDEK, not around much. Those who are on my twitter feed will know that I recently started a new awesome yet demanding job which is eating me alive, and prior to that I was being eaten alive by my crazed, last minute writing spree to get my bandombigbang fic done. I'm still kind of flailing in the general direction of my bbb fic, I had to request a late posting date because oh man I need EVERY SINGLE SECOND and new job = crazy demanding.

So really, there ain't that much left of me that hasn't been nibbled on from all sides, my spare time these days is ZERO.

But enough of all that palaver!

Can I be the LATEST to say thank you to everyone who responded to my thread on the You Are Beautiful Anonymeme? Just, I don't even know where to start, I think I'm going to have to save up that thread to read on days when the world is kicking my ass because it's SO wonderful and life affirming and happymaking for me. God, I adore you guys. For those of you who said you don't know me that well or wished you knew me better - STEP UP bb's! I'm right here! I try to be approachable, I swear I do.

Anyway, let's talk about FIC. See, last week I got to meet chuckaloonie IN PERSON. And oh man I could NOT STOP HUGGING HER. She is tiny and adorable and so so sweet and she gave me candy from Mexico and we talked about fic and boys and stupidity with kopperblaze, bebunny, xclusiveantonym, never_coming_bk (who made amazing CUPCAKES!) and piratesunk was there for a while, but way before me because I am the LATEST.

Anyway, awesome fangirl lovepiles aside - Laura has not been able to keep up with fandom lately (what, with the whole, having a life thing) and she's been MISSING ALL THE FIC.

So, she has charged me and bebunny to make a list of the ten not-to-be-missed fics of the last six months. And since I believe in being lazy being efficient I thought perhaps y'all could remind me - what is a recent fic that really REALLY knocked your socks off? I'm already percolating some of my own ideas, but I need some reminding.

A few little details as to preference! Bandom of course, MCR-centric preferred, and she's not really big on Killjoys. Also, if Bob's in it there may be tears of joy. And she likes her porn.

Straight from my delicious, stories that've knocked my socks off since December last year:

jjtaylor: The Detective's Secret and the Mystery of the Dancing Flowers (Frank/Gerard, Bob/Ray; 84,890 words) REC: The sequel to 'Gerard Way's (Vampire)...' is even better than its precursor. It's fantastic and wonderful and beautiful and completely heartbreaking. I'm completely fascinated by this world. It looks so much like ours on the surface but the more you delve into it the stranger it gets. The characters are all wonderful and the writing is fantastic. (2010-12-26)

tuesdaysgone: The Kids From Yesterday (Gerard/Korse, Mikey/Ray; 27,190 words) REC: Gerard's life in Battery City, from drunken mess to model employee to rebel. An absolutely fantastic story. It creates a Battery City full of life, gives us a terrifying Korse you feel sorry for, and a fascinating Gerard. The way he relates to Mikey, how he's both aware and not what the treatment's done to him, the way he tries to fill the void of emotional feelings with physical sensations, how he reacts when he finds out the truth, it's all so terribly right and plausible. Gerard's and Korse's relationship is intense and complicated and completely heartbreaking. (2011-01-23)

theopteryx: Might I Have a Bit of Earth (Frank/Gerard, Mikey/Alicia; 14,470 words) REC: An absolutely fabulous story about Gerard the space pirate, his brother Mikey, and Frank the stowaway set in a bleak, gritty universe. The world building is fantastic and the characterisations, particularly of Gerard, just about broke my heart with how much having grown up in this particular universe have changed them from the guys we know in ours. I would read a million words about this Gerard and this universe! (2011-01-16) - I haven't had time to read the sequel yet, Apastron, but from what I hear it's just as awesome.

rhymer: Deadly Masquerade (gen with some Frank/Gerard UST; 41,400 words) REC: In 1792 the Black Parade has become famous for saving people from the guillotine. Frank, an idealistic revolutionary, has been recruited by Korse to uncover their secret. What he discovers will change his life. This is absolutely superb! One of the best stories I've read in a long time. I love the atmosphere and mood and the way it blends the serious and thoughtful with outright humour and silliness. The Frank characterisation is first class and the way the real world of the French Revolution has been woven together with the Black Parade and Killjoys universes is absolutely fabulous. I would like to rec fic, especially for Laura, but I've been crazy busy too. :( In fact I am typing this before 6am because early to work today because someone in the government fucked up again. I'm sure there are fics! I just haven't had time to look them up! The only thing that's coming to mind this instant is This Anus Scene, It's An Arms Race (http://jedusaur.livejournal.com/15054.html) in which bandom is a porn company called Fueled By Semed. It appealed to me for... reasons that will probably make sense if you read it. Sex is funny.
